Thomas Bowmen is a criminal defense attorney and principal of The Law Office Thomas G. Bowman, PA. From 1997-2005 Tom worked at the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office as Assistant State Attorney, Division Chief. He received is BA and JD from New York University. Tom’s vast experience on both sides of the criminal justice system brings a unique and invaluable perspective to LEAP’s board.
Rebecca (“Café”) Brown is a graduate of the LEAP program. Café is employed at Camillus House as a cook, is an Evangelist and Theology student, is a member of 100+ Women Who Care, and holds certificates from Miami Dade College, Barry University and JAX Baptist Theology Seminary. She is active in the community doing volunteer work, campaigning for political candidates, and church ministry.
Yvette Bravo, President, is a retired Principal of a regional Vocational High School in Long Island, NY. As an Educational Consultant, Yvette has directed publishing, training, and evaluation programs in the area of Bilingual Education. She has been on the LEAP Board for many years bringing her skills to the areas of grant writing and curriculum development. Yvette also teaches one of the modules for the in-prison program.
Mahlia Lindquist, Executive Director, is an attorney, and joined the LEAP family as a mentor. Mahlia is a Miami native and has a BA in Economics from Emory University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center. As an attorney, she worked in the criminal justice system, as well as private practice. Mahlia also teaches one of the modules for LEAP’s in-prison program.
Gemma Garcia, Vice-President and LEAP co-founder. Gemma has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Baruch College in New York City and a Master of Business Administration from Pace University in New York City. She has over 30 years of experience in banking and in trading emerging markets stocks and bonds. She currently teaches classes for LEAP in the areas of business planning and budgeting.
Shed Boren is a social worker and healthcare executive recognized for his advocacy for others. He has worked for, and on behalf of, vulnerable populations for more than 30 years, with a focus on those living with HIV/AIDS, chronic diseases, mental health challenges and in poverty. Dr. Boren has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Camillus Health Concern, Camillus House, Sister Emmanuel Hospital and as the founder of Mercy Hospital’s AIDS program.
Silvana Roncal has worked for the last 30 years in the finance industry, first as an investment banker and now as a wealth mangers. Silvana has held positions at Citibank, ANZ Bank and currently is a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley advising international high net worth individuals and families. She was one of LEAP’s first mentors.
Marisel Losa is a healthcare leader in the community with more than three decades of experience. Marisel is the President and CEO of the Health Council of South Florida, Inc, a trusted champion for ethical and targeted healthcare policy at the local, state, and national levels. Under her leadership, a cohesive, dedicated and dynamic professional leadership team provides various services to the community to the promote wellness and healthy lifestyles for the residents of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
